Default Forms - Tracking Submits

Is there any way to track how many times a form is processed? I have no clue on where to start - but I'm currently using Google Analytics if anyone has any tips.

My particular form just processes an IDX search.

I believe that on your form, you could make your submit do it's current action, and also to email you. That might get a lot, but it would let you know.
Or you could store a log file. Just have it add an entry to the log.

I think a log would be great. Any insight on how to do this?

Oh heck no :0 I don't mess with forms lol.

How did you create your form? Have someone make it for you? Use DreamWeaver/GoLive/Frontpage/otherprogram?

I have my forms tracked in Google Analytics. The form submitted page is set up as a goal and then I can track how many times and from which pages those forms were submitted (and routing).

Aha! Excellent idea. There's only one way to get the to page that forms loads to, and that's through that form so this should work out perfectly.

Thanks!

Brandon,
I build my forms in Wufoo and import them over to my site.

When you set up the goal parameters, do you put the front page landing as the first step to a goal, or does "gnalytics" do that by default?

Update: After doing some research, the answer to this question is to "not" put your homepage as the first step, as this is implied in the goal process. No wonder why my numbers never made sense.

Not sure exactly what you mean. All my pages have Analytics on them and I've created a goal conversion for my submit form pages. "Thank you for your interest. I will get back to you as soon as possible."
Then I check reverse funnel path to see where they came from.

That's odd - I've never seen that page. I need to dig deeper - see, this form that I am using is not a "contact me" form. It's a form that will search my IDX for listing, and I want to see if people are using it.

Update: Now I see it - let me just figure this out for a bit. Wow - google analytics is so sweet.

I just started using Analytics exclusively it is pretty cool. I think I am having the same problem you are Steve, I can track my goals when someone submits a form on my page however I can't track the registers on my idx since it is 3rd party software.I guess I will contact my idx vendor and see if I can do it somehow.
