Default Changing content and Google

It seems that when I change or add content, especially to my home page, my search engine position slips a little, only to bounce back stronger. Kind of like an ebb and flow. Is that the normal way of things? Also, how often, if ever should you change your page title and page description?

Once you have what you want, don't change the title. After a title has aged a bit, I think you can drop by making significant changes. However, the body of the page can be changed.

Things like onpage content and title will be evaluated based on their merit or appropriateness at the time of spidering in real time (Or as soon as Google is aware of the changes) it is not like a backlink where it gets x amount of credit after time, so change it all you want, each time you get respidered you should move up or down (With a little flux) depending on whether you have improved your content (in the se's eyes) or not.

I second what Sam said though, if you are happy with what you have, don't go messing with it because a constantly changing title tag will not increase your serps

I recently did a dumb thing and removed a chunk of content from my homepage and put it in my blog instead. I think that caused me to drop about 10 pages in google serps for my biggest keyword. I changed it back and added more to the homepage, so well see what happens.
