ArticleDashboard seems to be what I will call a "parent" site which powers several others. Just a few I have found are ArticleMotron, ArticleJoe, and ArticleSnatch.

ArticleAlley has several "sister" sites like A1Articles and FinanceAlley.

In each case, and others like them, do people post articles on all sites within the family of sites or just one with the expectation (hope) being that a post on one will spread across to the others?

Well, I'm not sure what most people do, But when we are submitting articles, we have a list of about 50 sites, many of them "sister sites" and/or "parent sites". They may be similar sites, but from what i have seen they seem to all have separate databases. If they didn't, They would not allow my articles on all the sites as they deny duplicate articles, or even articles that are too similar to others in the database.
