Hi
Can you please review this site in terms of SEO and potential traffic. It's a new site that our marketing director is considering advertising on against my advice. From what I can see their only traffic will be type in or what comes from their adwords campaign. www.myoverseasproperty.ie Thanks

I like the design, but from an seo point of view I think that it needs to be optimized a lot better to get results.
First of all, you think you are going to get type-ins? I would say only from people who have been to the site, no new visitors because of the extension of your domain. The meta tags are not optimized very well at all. The title should have keywords in it, not just the domain name. The description needs to have more keywords. And the keywords meta tag only has one long sentence which won't help much at all. Hope this helps

From an SEO perspective, I think:
- the title tag is terrible - the homepage code is bloated with a lot of scripting - the description meta tag is too long - the site has no PR - the site has no backlinks (google) If you are going to advertise on this site, surely they can provide you some statistics to make decisions on, and perhaps a "trial period"? I'm with you, I would tread cautiously on this one.

Boston Condo is correct it's not my site, it is something our marketing director is thinking about spending $3000 a year on. They pitch was they got 650,000 hits in their 1st month. I'll be posting the site I'm working on in the next few weeks and you'll all get a chance to rip it to shreds

Just regarding the type in's , they have a small ad campaign on radio and newspapers. Regarding the .ie extension, the irish are the biggest searchers for overseas property http://www.google.com/trends?q=overseas+property

Haha, Irish? I didn't even know that that was what ie stood for. Anways, sorry about being so critical, I was just trying to say that you probably wouldn't get people randomly typing it in, that's all. I didn't know that they were advertising with other media. By the way, does it really help to advertise on the radio and newspapers that much, I've always wondered if it would help very much?

To be honest, with radio, I think it has very little effect but thats just my opinion, I often hear url's being shouted over the radio on the way to work, do I go look at the sites when I get into work, nah, I've better things to be doing. The newspapers maybe as I think things are always recalled better when you have a visual medium. They had a fairly good exposure on the regional newspapers and the radio. After reverse analysing their stats, I worked out they probably had about 700 uniques(I downloaded their homepage and counted just under 50 elements) in the month. The thing that hasnt been taken into account is how many of the uniques were themselves, as if they are just started and uploading the property to the site, I'm sure they also check the site to make sure everything looks right. Also they are running an adwords campaign so that has to be taken into account. So for me it's definitely a non runner. I also checked out what they were using for the site, www.myoverseasproperty.ie/admin . From this I worked out that what the are using is phpmyrealty, which is a $150 script, (http://www.phpmyrealty.com/demo/admin/index.php) . After looking at what phpmyrealty offers, they have no way of quantifying leads generated etc which makes it worthless in my opinion.
