Exclamation Bring it ! ALL you got !!!

OK, I need some help. I am passed the new kid on the block stage, the lets find 3-compliments before we politely try to tell him what he is doing wrong stage. I would very much appreciate some cold hard feed back on my site.

Here's a few things I know or think.

  • I have a few broken links I just created while "cleaning" up my site I have to fix.
  • I think there are getting to be too many links on the right hand side. I am playing around with some ideas on how to better that look and usability, but would appreciate any ideas.
  • I want to replace the picture of the "muddy water bridge" in my flash, I think it brings it down a notch.
  • I need to continue expanding my condo list area for each condo complex, and have small write ups for each (just need time for that I guess).
  • I need more back links and very much want to get to the point where I can have REW do that (just not yet, $$$$).

Anyway, I would very much appreciate a "next step" approach to getting my site both SEO'd correctly and user friendly. So, BRING IT, ALL You got!

Thanks in advance y'all

Well we're not going to slag a REW design are we? From what I can see the only thing that bugs me is the flash but thats just personal opinion. I will say this though real estate agents sites in the states, have a big difference in site look and design. A few examples, www.dng.ie , www.grimes.ie , www.pfq.ie , www.lisney.com, www.costelloe.com

No, the foundation is fine - it's my adding the content, tags, headings, links, link flow, etc that I was looking for feedback on. I already know the REW site fundamentals are top notch.

For the better or worse?

I like it, Like the flash, it is cool.

suggestions:

Make the Make the Search Memphis Area Homes / Click Here Button bigger and more promenent.

Put at least one picture, even if it is small, of you on the page.

Just my opinion.

OK, then...will skip the compliments, even though it's hard for me ;-)

1) The Search Memphis Area Homes/Click Me doesn't readily appear to be a link/call to action (looks more like a title/header). Maybe it needs some kind of graphic or other visual image to make it stand out. However, I do think it's plenty big enough.

2) Also, as recommended above...a picture, or other graphics/photos to break up the text throughout the page would look nice.

3) Not sure about this one...but regarding the links on the right - did you try making the mouse-over color brighter, perhaps a red? That might make the links stand out a bit more.

Try interchanging the colors in the call to action for the header MLS link there, making the background box gold and the link blue. Keep the same style for the background square there - it might look nice.

Why brand Re/Max that much? Brand yourself. I can (and have) changed companies and nobody even knows the difference as my brand has nothing to do with the brokerage.

Flash is pretty, but distracting for why the visitor is there. To much attention is drawn to the huge flash images and not enough to what matter. Most important the Search For Homes doesn't stand out, looks like more of a header.

Targeting to many things with your homepage. Target your main term and use internal pages for the rest.

BTW, don't add your photo unless you are trying to please your mother. The rest of the world could care less about what you look like. There was a study a couple years ago and photo on your homepage was the #1 worst thing an agent could do. After reading this a few agents played with it and found their leads went up by removing their photos. The reason is that online buyers don't want to make a personal connection when they first find your site. They want information and want to feel in control.

Thanks for the input, keep 'em coming.

1) I hate the "I love me photos" and I will never have one on my home page.
2) Interesting thought on the Search Box. I think it's of sufficient size but I do agree it needs "something" done to increase the call to action.

I had to re-look at my own site for this one. You really think the one balloon is too much branding? I went with the simple balloon to avoid the over branding like you get with the template sites that cater to the companies. What would you change or take away to not have so much REMAX branding?

.......I actually agree with you and have been trying to figure out the layout and flow I want to accomplish this. At the same time, I am just now starting to rise in the ranks and have that hesitance to screw things up just as Google is starting to like me.

Thanks for the input everyone. What do you think about removing the duplicate links on the right that also appear on the top (like " Buyers, Sellers") I just think there seem to be too many links over there, I hate clutter.

Another thing I need to do is utilize the links at the bottom of the page, right now only the site map is being used.

I would make Memphis Real Estate and your names (which in IE are very hard to read) much more prominent, and cut the size or your Re/Max balloon in half.

and yes, as I said before, your search homes button should be like 3x more prominent, that is what most of the people coming to your site are looking for.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree about the remax balloon. It seems like when I go to your page and I am trying to look around, my attention always seems to go back to the balloon. I think it is because you have pictures changing in back of it so it stands out even more. I both agree and disagree about the picture of yourself. I don't think you should have your picture visible when the page first loads, but I believe that you need to put it somewhere. The fact is that once people are past first impressions, they want to know who they are going to trust their money to. I think you just need to picture yourself and think, does my picture show that I am a trusting, nice, etc. individual. If not, then definately leave it off. (I don't know, thats the way I think)
