Competing With Myself?
Ok, Im working on my REW site which I've had for a few months. I don't have an IDX yet so Im linking to my Prudential template site that has IDX for those who want to search for property.
Now although my Prudential site has NO incoming links except those from my REW site and 1 from my REW blog, and barely any content it ranks on pg 8 in google for my biggest keyword! My REW site is on pg 34 for the same term even though I have hundreds of links and Im #2 allinanchor for that term. Now the only thing I can think of is that because Im linking to my Prudential site several times (like 10 or so) because I have a "search for area homes" link at the bottom of all of my area pages. Ironically, for my second biggest term my Prudential site is nowhere to be found and my REW site is on pg 5. So Im just wondering how my Prudential template site with no links could be kicking my REW site's ass for my biggest keyword. Are the links from my REW site the only reason? I was gonna take the links down to see if that makes a difference, but then no one will be able to search for homes. Or maybe I could just have one link instread of 10. What do you guys think?

If your main keyword includes "real estate" it will take time for Google to trust your REW website. If your allinanchor is 2, it will change at some point. Keep doing what you are doing and one day soon you will wake up and your REW site will have made a signifcant jump.

How old is your Prudential site and how old is your REW site?

Time is the issue, and if your other site is off of the national prudential it gains a certain amount of instant credibility with the SE's. Your new REW blog because it is a new URL and separate from the REW site will take time to "earn" the respect of the SE's.
The same thing as getting instant respect from your REW blog, it's because you're directly on the REW URL.
