Hey guys,
Been working on this for quite a while, and discussing with the advanced webmasters here at REW forums, and we are finally ready to show off the new REW Online News: http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/online-news/ What is the online news? It is our answer to inferior online news publications, that is written and published by those of us entrenched in the real estate industry, especially as it applies to online verticals. Contributors will be web savvy agents and brokers, as well as those leaders in the technology industry such as REW staff, and other "in the know" developers and companies. It takes on the familiar format of REW Blogs in terms of clean design, syndication, etc - however the stories submitted here are a little different. Check out the contribute page for more info: http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...ontribute.html Some features: RSS syndication backed and powered by REW, a strong push will be made to increase and maintain a high readership so that maximum exposure is garnered for our authors. Professional Editing: I have donated my copywriting and editing staff to this project to ensure that those articles worth publication that meet our high standards will be grammatically correct, and error free. Javascript syndication: Another quick and easy way for webmasters to provide instant access to the latest news Authority development: As part of the REW strategy "Quality vs quantity" each accepted author will get their own bio that is linked to from each article they have accepted, as well as in the RSS feed that will be syndicated across the web. These articles and bios will receive maximum exposure and thus backlinks which will increase the pagerank and trustrank of REW as a whole, but more importantly the REW Online News. From your authors bio you will be able to provide a straight html text link to your website so that you can pass this pagerank and trust rank to your website which will help with your own quest for the holy serp grail. I could go on for a while with our plans etc, but I wanted to post a link so people could see, and get excited for the up and coming news section. Comments, thoughts, suggestions, questions?

Just noticed that the news page, and after further checking REW blogs, are not set-up for RSS autodiscovery, which is immensely helpful.

Lol oops, so we don't sweat the small stuff
that would be something like this in the header right? Code:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS Feed for REW Online News" href="/rss/" />

This is good.
I'll have to brush up my writing skills myself.

I just read Matt's newest article http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...arms-race.html
I forgot to mention, the REW writing staff will also be featuring news style articles, in the one above Matt interviews staff of John L Scott, Redfin and microsoft - These kind of high quality stories will really help REW Online News get the kind of exposure large news publications are able to achieve - I am stoked!

I'm seeing a tiny formatting issue. Check:
http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...n-realtor.html Notice that the article list is showing a <li> icon thingy there hidden behind my picture (in FF). Maybe make a new li class with a blank image or however that works.

Yeah, lots of design type stuff on "the little things" still need to be fleshed out. Actually that page is something I am working on. In the author backend we are going to add fields for certain social media profiles "Linkedin" etc I just have to decide which ones. Also, for quotes within articles we are going to put some nice formatting to set it apart from the rest of the text. Etc Design suggestions are always appreciated.

Are you moving for more of a blog feel or like a real estate authority? As it is, it's a blog but I was thinking a better way to structure the content on the front page would be nice.
Almost give it a magazine feel. I'm sure we're going to have to add more images to the articles. If you're taking the design a totally different direction, that's cool, this is just the first thing that popped in me noggin'
