Hello
I am currently working with Craig and setting up a new R E W site. Money, as always, is a factor, especially since I am a new Realtor. What I plan to do is go for a template site, and then slowly build it. My reason to go with R E W was that the sites are modular, more money you have to spend on them, more you can do with them. My question to you, the experienced webmasters is, what is the absolute best way to start out. Keep in mind that I will be springing for SEO and probably a custom IDX at a later time. I have been reading the forums, and even though I am pretty computer literate, a lot of the concepts just made me go Cheers Sapan |

Hello Sapan, congrats on your purchase of an REW website. The best thing you can do to get yourself started is read read read at REW Forums, taking time to learn "before" you do is always a good strategy.
While you are learning, you will be adding content to your new site - when doing this, a lot of people go the wrong route and attempt to "SEO" their content, instead of thinking of their visitors, construct your website with your visitors and conversion in mind, this is the best platform to work from - So when reading and learning, make your focus learning what types of content will be of interest to your visitors, hang out in the writing center, the increasing conversion forums etc

couldn't have put it better. Without a good website with good content, your SEO efforts are worthless. I'm seeing more and more sites ranked at top of SE's but have no strategy or design to capture audience. Live by the 4 C's - create, capture, convert, close
Create Good Relavant Content Capture Lead Convert Client Close the deal! congrats on new REW site, you have taken the first step to success!

Araahan;
First off, congratualtions! You have made a great first step that many others don't -- an REW website is what I would do if I was starting over. I know it sounds corny to say focus on the customer and the rankings will follow, but it is true to a large extent. Focus agressively on what the customer wants and they will come back time and again. Keep reading, posting and asking questions...that's the best way to understand the concepts. Final thought--You are not building a website. You are building a web PRESENCE and a BRAND. Build slowly, deliberately and carefully. It will take longer that way, but your presence will be more solid and will be a true asset. Best; Eric

Thanks Guys, It is a bit overwhelming. I have gone from thinking:
just code in iWeb, add some content and have a site to I want to dominate the search engines in my area, I want a REW site to Screw worrying about SEO and dominating the search engines, I am going to focus on ensuring that my site is viewed as a tool by people looking to buy and sell. And this is all due to the support on these forums, I have been lurking around in the dark, reading, learning. Bought the seobook by Aaron Wall, that is one interesting read. Plus, props to Craig Matty, he has guided me pretty well. Cheers |
