I currently live in Washington and am about to finish the pre-licensing course and take the exam. I would like to know if it is possible to transfer the license I will get here to Florida? If so, what are the requirements, such as length of time needing to work in WA before being able to transfer? Or would I just have to take a new course and pass the exam in Florida? I have tried looking on the internet for an answer but to no avail. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It depends on the state. They are all different. You need to talk to someone with the Florida Association of Realtors to see if a Washington license will transfer there.

Re: http://www.myflorida.com/dbpr/re/mut_rec.shtml
Sorry, Washington is not on their list of mutual recognition states. My first license was in Florida, and I was lucky that they had at least partial recognition with Colorado.

Thanks for all the help. Now comes the decision of whether we move or not. My family is in Florida. I guess since I haven't taken the exan here in WA yet, I would not be loosing much. And the toughest part of getting the license in FL will be to do the 63 hours and learn FL law, since I have a decent understanding of national law and general procedures. Thanks again for the help!

I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but aside from the final exam you can do everything on line from washington.
