May 19th is when I have to renew my domain name. Does it matter where it is registered? Should I leave it where it is?

It does not really matter (Except if you register with somewhere with bad customer service)

If you're just renewing it and not making any other changes, you should probably stay where you are as long as the price is decent. If you needed to change contact info or DNS, say to move the site to another host in the future, it helps to find a registrar with a user-friendly control panel. Network Solutions and GoDaddy are both hugely popular, but to me both of them have a control panel that's ridiculously confusing to navigate for the average domain owner that doesn't manage domains for a living. Also look out for domain renewal scams like the ones I've listed here:
http://www.chilipepperweb.net/domain-name-fraud.html Proper domain management is one of my biggest pet peeves. Know the basics about domain upkeep and you'll never have to worry about it being locked, frozen, hijacked or expired unnoticed. http://www.chilipepperweb.net/unders...g-domains.html (Steps down off soapbox now.) |
