Default What gas prices are doing to the industry?

Boy o boy, gas prices are steadily increasing, and the market is steadily declining (even though we all understand this is temporary). What are some ways, that you have found that help

I'll help get the list the going....

1. Of course, maximizing the use of the internet, to sell properties
2. Using the internet to find get marketing materials delivered, such as business cards, house brochures, etc.
3. Maximize your time in the car, make it your mobile office, at least if you have to pay for the gas, make it worth it.

Whenever possible:
- Work from home.
- Ride my motorcycle to/from the office and listing appointments.
- Ride my motorcycle to meet buyers for one-shot showing appointments.
50 mpg vs 16 mpg = no-brainer.

How effective have you guys found, adding lockboxes to a property has been, and just letting the prospects let themselves in? That could be a way.

Also adding a virtual tour is almost a must, for my properties, it almosts eliminates the need to even see the property. ALMOST!!! lol

lol ride the motorcycle... Do you ask them to climb on back for showings?
I guess if they trust you with their life they can trust you with buying or selling a house!

I'm just kidding, I'm a cycle guy as well.

I've got an old CBR 1000 that may give the wrong impression to my buyers. Usually only A holes drive crotch rockets. I may have been an A hole when I was younger but these days I try to hide it. Besides that I can't get on the bike without at least one quick sprint to 140MPH it's just too easy to go fast.

A Harley could also send mixed signals.... Maybe a nice BMW...

It's too hot to ride here in the summer with pants on and to dangerous to wear just shorts.

I may try keeping the "Home showing car" at the office and just ride the cycle to and from the office...

Does anyone use a hybrid as their work vehicle? Cheaper (Presumably) than an SUV and there is the potential to make an extra impression with your customers who are into "green friendly" life

If the tax incentives are good enough this year my wife will be driving a hybrid as her new car, we will be needing another big write off and cars seem to work pretty well. My 6000 lb GVW X5 cut my tax bill in half thanks to a tax loophole that was originally for farm vehicles and other businesses that really needed large heavy work trucks. I'm guessing BMW put lead in the frame to make the X5 as heavy as it is. It is only 5 lbs over the required 6000 lbs for the tax write off. Coincidence? I think not.

For the extra green'ers, you could get one of those tricycle cabs.. and just pedal them around. No emission*!

I think we will start seeing more Realtors driving hybrids soon.

I just told my husband my next car is going to be a hybrid. I do work from home but gee, sometimes I have to actually go list a home and/or show buyers properties. Internet hasn't become advanced enough to keep me in front of my computer 24/7 yet, thank goodness!
