I'm just a person interested in IT and SEO stuff. Just recently, I barely make it to the top for certain keywords. It's all about hard work and no shortcuts. and yada yada yada.. ...

I just got a phone call from a real estate agent tonight asking whether I am interested in referral networks. As you see, I'm not in the real estate line, I'm more prone to be on the losing end if I participate in schemes which is not my forte. Could I benefit from these kind of schemes ? I haven't really got any solid information about how the plan works, but what I believe is that I would refer as many customers as possible to him and he will give me a portion of the dough. How do I secure the dough? Can I believe in him?

Was this person hitting you up for leads?

I have heard people refer the link rings as referral networks, or lead trades, or as you said earlier handing over the leads for a portion of the $. I don't think there is any way for you to enforce them paying you on commissions so I would be more inclided to see you charge them for each lead or referral you provide and then it is up to them to close them.

You would not be able to receive a referral fee from any IL deals as you are not a licensed agent in your own state. There are many states witht he same rules.

You can charge per lead or use a PPC system as that is just advertising. Even still Service Magic and other get a license to make sure they don't get in trouble as EVERY state has different rules. May not be worth the headache.

Check into the laws in Singapore. In most states in the U.S., unlicensed persons are prohibited by law from collecting part of a commission or a referral fee. I think Morgan was right, just go ahead and sell the leads, it will probably be alot easier.

You guys are right about checking with the law. I had better check out with the local authorities about this to save me from loads of other problems.
