Both of the featured agents on the homepage are from Atlanta.

Anyone know what the criteria is to be the featured agent on the AR homepage?

I believe it is simply a matter of point accumulation.

RESteve is right, so you will need to start blogging and commenting on other blogs. Good luck.

That's what I figured. AR doesn't have anywhere near the juice of REW blogs (at least here in Atlanta) so I don't know that would be time well spent.

Ryan - you can get some good points for having a lengthy bio with testemonials and more for posting photos on localism. You can also gain points by commenting on other blogs - 10 per coment up to 10/day (I think).

Default Re: Active Rain

I have not figured out Active Rain as far as how much help it is.
Posting on others blogs is 25 points though.

I have noticed if I look at google Real Estate town name that my active rain blogs are as likely to show up sprinkled #30 - #100 in the index as often and about evenly with my REW blogs. Just a guess but that says to me they are about equal, but I am just guessing.

One thing I did notice is that my Squidoo blog shot up real fast within a week it was #3 for what it is optimized for. The market it is optimized for is very non competitive though and google shows 20 searches per month on that google searches. After 2 days I had seen it at like #20 and then like I said up to #3 after like 7 days.

My REW blog is still not findable in google at least not the first 15 pages for a somewhat more competitive search. I guess it just takes longer for a competitive search, Morgan care to weigh in on this.

Update 6/3 my REW blog showed up at number 7

Thanks,

Jim

You just get picked...not a giant rhyme nor reason...sign up and read the thread. Some have tried for a long time...others featured even admit they are honored but have no clue!

As soon as you blog though..you come up bang in that category. If you do a good job spelling out say the ABC's of starting a small Maine farm...with handy links..a few images...suddenly you get traffic to you as a helper for those with that hobby / passion in mind. Same thru on area info, state travel site that helps familiarize readers with state you live in. http://www.activerain.com/blogs/mooersrealty

Ryan I was #1 in GA for like 8 months. I gave it up when I realized the SEO benefit of REW blogs and forums probably far out weighs AR. I have dropped to 4 now but who cares. I would rather spend my time in here with all of my new found SEO friends instead of talking about "Why agents shouldn't bring their pets to open houses" on Active Rain. LOL. Don't get me wrong, there are some great content writers in Active Rain, but most are spammy point-generating posts that have 0 value.
