Smile Team Bloging???

Hello everyone and Morgan our great Webmaster,

I came across a post over at Active Rain today which basically was a continuation of several that this lady has done. Basically what she did was organize like 30 people, and they all agreed to right 3 blogs. They were each assigned 3 people from the group, and there assignment was to right a blog about each of the people they were assigned including links to that persons website and key words and all.

First question, is this a good idea?

Second question, is this something that has been done before here at REW?

Third could this be considered spamming?

Forth, is it worth our time to do something like this?

Looking forward to hearing other peoples thoughts.

Jim

Team Blogging is a great thing IMO. It can happen a couple of ways:

a REALTOR, a mortage guy, a homebuilder, an interior designer etc all collaborate on a local home trends sort of blog...

OR

REALTORs from around the country talk about items of interest

etc, etc...

The KEY is quality. People who can write well are CRUCIAL.

Best;

Eric

The problem is getting people to write quality content.

Wow that is a great idea. A collaborative blog. I may use one of my existing ones and re-optimize for something like that. I think it's brilliant. You could create a monster. A REALTOR, mortgage guy, home fix-it guy and few other topics and it could be like Q & A center for anyone looking for real estate answers from any field in your area.

Well, maybe not - I don't know. That sounds more like a forum than a blog.

I'll have to give it some more thought.

Maybe the blog hosted on my domain could be used for something like that...

I agree with you 110% percent. I've actually spoken with mortgage professionals to see if they'd like to contribute to my blog, and their responses are ususally along the lines of:
  1. Why would I want to write?
  2. What is that going to do for me?
  3. ...I don't have a website.

It kills me and I end up not going into it further; I figure if they don't have a website than they really don't belong in the blog. Perhaps the key is actively pursuing individuals that are successful at SEO in different industries in your region (maybe not even) so that you don't have to explain the whole process from start to finish.
