I've been working on getting the blog attached to my template (in rew dev) ready for primetime and I imported all the posts from my existing wordpress 2.1 blog at www.northofthesavannah.com/posts/ by using the manage->export function in the WP CMS.

However, that WP function only exports posts, comments, custom fields, and categories.

So when I imported into the WP2.2 dev blog, I lost a few fields (blogrolls, author bios, etc) but most importantly the posts are hot-linking pictures off of my existing blog!

When I transfer domains I'll have a blog full of red 'x's unless I copy the files over in the right file tree.

Any advice? I'm toying with the idea of just asking REW to import my existing SQL database and seeing if that works.

Do we have access to the site? We could probably just copy the entire directory from your existing site could we not? Or is there skinning involved etc?

The REW dev blog does have some skinning done on it, so I can't copy everything over. Maybe copying just the image directories will work, I dunno. The site is #41 if you want to take a look at that blog.

Hi Lydia,

I think I might be able to do a search and replace in the data base for the old image path to the new image path. Copy over the image directories and I'll see what I can do.

Really digging the colors! Going to need to reduce the amount of cities in the IDX though I imagine, you don't service all of those regions do you?

I'm uploading the image folders now into the same path as on the 'old' blog:

/wp-content/uploads/

as long as the blog stays at www.northofthesavannah.com/posts/ it should be fine as is...right?

Should be ok - the file structures are slightly different still
New location is /posts/wp-content/uploads/
when the old one was /wp-content/uploads/

I should be able to work something out tomorrow so you do not need to edit all the paths by hand.

Yes - all sorted out.
The images that were in the /wp-content/... folder will now work when the site is transfered.
