Does anyone know of a source of information that indicates what resolution most web surfers view at?
It seems like most sites in my market are designed to be viewed at a minimum of 800 x 600. I keep my monitor at 1280 x 1024 most of the time myself.

Here are some stats.

Those stats are national and based on the area you are in this will vary.

Yes, very interesting Jeff, thanks! I am surprised that the Netscape share is so low. Netscape Navigator was by far my favorite browser until I learned of GoogleBar about a year ago and found that it was unavailable for Netscape.
Thanks again!

I wonder, would you stick to, let say, 1024x768 resolution even at expense of loosing potential buyers (who maybe still using 800x640)?
And, BTW, a lot of people used to have browser window NOT MAXIMIZED, so screen resolution stats could be a bit misleading. Thus I advocate to target your design to 800x640 and also to use CSS based content order techniques to comply even with handheld devices. |
