I have a blogspot blog that I'd like to move to a custom domain. Is it better to have blogspot host and redirect the blog to the new domain, or should I use ftp?

I would say don't EVER use blogspot. Host it on your own domain. Why would you use bs (that actually fits as an abbreviation ), are you trying to get your content on an authority domain? Blogspot subdomains give you no real advantage. If you want a subdomain blog, use www.wordpress.com

In terms of usability, I find blogspot to be the best... but Mike is right, Wordpress it pretty excellent.
