There is nothing faulty about the standard contact form at all, spambots are programmed to go after contact forms, and they are going after yours - to combat constantly evolving bots, you need to do "Extra" things that are sometimes quite creative in order to ensure that spam is minimized. We don't incorporate this into our initital billing, we certainly could and then everyone could pre-emptively pay for it, but not everyone has the problem so it made more sense for me to bill it if it becomes an issue for someone.
