Default The "New Seven Wonders of the World"

HISTORY was rewritten last night after about 100m people voted to name the seven new wonders of the world.

India’s Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, Jordan’s Petra, Brazil’s statue of Christ Redeemer, Peru’s Machu Picchu, Mexico’s Chichen Itza pyramid and the Colosseum in Rome have now replaced the original wonders, most of which have long since vanished into the mists of time.

Greece’s Acropolis failed to make the final cut, but the Great Pyramid of Giza, the only one of the original wonders ancient of the world still standing, was assured of retaining its status in addition to the new seven after indignant Egyptian officials said it was a disgrace they had to compete.

It is with great pleasure that I report that The Seven Wonders of Austin has remained the same. Now you know how to find the Seven Wonders of Austin .... don't you!

Hey, I didn't get to vote!

That's a good idea for the Austin page you created.

I don't know how you leave out the Great Pyramid of Giza, regardless of whether a country chose to compete or not -- and I would also choose the Parthenon over the statue in Brazil.

Note: The "Acropolis" is merely the raised hill upon which the Parthenon stands. I lived just outside Athens for a year and a half and the Parthenon standing atop the Acropolis is wonderful to see every time you drive into the city. Of course, driving in Athens is an adventure to behold. The lines that mark the different lanes in the road? They mean nothing. You fit as many lanes as you can fit cars in the street. I'm not exaggerating.

1. India’s Taj Mahal
2. the Great Wall of China
3. Jordan’s Petra
4. Brazil’s statue of Christ Redeemer
5. Peru’s Machu Picchu
6. Mexico’s Chichen Itza pyramid
7. Colosseum in Rome have now replaced the original wonders, most of which have long since vanished into the mists of time.

8.? "the Great Pyramid of Giza, the only one of the original wonders ancient of the world still standing, was assured of retaining its status in addition to the new seven after indignant Egyptian officials said it was a disgrace they had to compete."

So, that makes 8 seven wonders of the world?

And I agree. Parthenon > Brazil’s statue of Christ Redeemer.

In the world of politics, you are allowed to use the "new math."

I'm glad the great wall is there personally, seeing as it's what, one of the only man made building viewable from space?

And you compared Stevie Ray to Zeus... that's so wrong lol

Have to agree on the Parthenon - it was amazing standing up there and looking out over Athens. Realizing that this is where Socrates and Plato gave their lectures. Where civilizations rose and fell. The Acropolis is a pretty special place, it's kind of like Stonehenge in a way, you can feel the power of the place just standing there....for that matter why isn't Stonehenge on the list?

The results for the latest "Seven Wonders of the World" reflect the methodology used to vote: While there were over 100-million voters who got online and cast their selections *which resulted in severe server overload and several crashes*, the process allowed for repeat voting from the same IP address. I'm sure this was abused in a big way and is why certain "wonders" have been overlooked ....
