Default Dynamic Pages Issue.... Help!!

Hi,

Our dynamic pages which are 90% of the site are being missed out by search engines and over 500 properties.

In the dynamic pages we are trying to put the title of each property into the main title in browser automatically, this way all our dynamic pages will be listed and picked up by the SE.

As for example here it says Canal Residence West in the property description it should automatically be in the main page title, at the moment it just says Home or property portal in title.

Come on code experts I need your advice!

Thanks.

I don't see any thing on the page you have in the link besides your site layout.

Why not mod_rewrite those urls a bit.
so this

propertyportal.ae/estate/index.php?mod=re_search&ad=933

could end up looking like this. or something.

propertyportal.ae/estate/property-details-933.php

As far as the property name in the title.... just place the variable from the page that represents the property name from the data base into the title in the header. <tiltle></title>

I`m under the impression that the hosting provider server wouldn’t allow us to impliment this but I would welcome more thoughts on a solution as it is key to our future success IMO.

Markz, it's pretty standard stuff so I can't imagine your host would have an issue. As far as the title in the header goes that's a simple on page modification that you can do and load... just like changing your static text or layout.

Aaron's suggestion about rewriting the url's you just need to check with your host to see if mod rewrite has been enabled and then it's just taking the time to do it, or have it done.

If there are any server issues with this... it's time to find a new host. (smiley here)

On further investigation and its not my field of knowledge at all, our problem is that the website is PHP-based and running on IIS server, not Apache server.

IIS server has its own method for URL rewrite called ISAPI_Rewrite, but we don’t think it’s compatible.

So would the only solution be to change servers??

Thks.

You don't need to change servers.... the ISAPI component needs to be installed on your server though. I use http://www.isapirewrite.com/ from Helicon and have been quite pleased with its ease of implementation and support.

It doesn't make a difference whether the file is php, asp, htm etc... you create and implement rules based on your application.

Having said that though, you may want to change servers as you'll have a lot more support and information here if you're not on a Windows server.

About the property name in the title though... there's nothing stopping you from doing that now though and search engines are getting far better at indexing dynamic urls these days.
