My wife and I don't watch a whole lot of TV so when we find a series we like, it is good fun and quality time. Anyway, we recently got hooked on the Discovery Channel's "Man Vs. Wild" show. It is very entertaining.

Turns out that much of it is fake. Now my wife is about the easiest person to sucker I have ever met. Hell, she married me, she must be a push-over. I, on the otherhand, am very cynical--to a fault--and am usually on the look out for scams.

The show was easy to identify with since I did so much survival stuff with the military. Each episode was a flashback to some less than stellar moments of me slowly starving to death. I guess that is why I fell for it.

Wait a second...Fake? No! I have found myself being sucked more than once to that show. What gets me is the thought that there are these camera guys there sucking down cantenes of water and power bars while he sits there and bites the poison out of a live scorpion before eating live for "protein" Sure there is some truth to what he says, but it still is TV.

Either way, if I catch it, I usually stay on it.

I need a source too. Without a source your story seems kind of "slippy" as Bear Grylls says. I have my DVR set to record 9pm every Friday night on Discovery Channel. Even if it is fake I would probably still watch.

I read it in the local paper... thankfully too as when I first read the thread title I thought you might be talking about my family. (four kids)
