I just opened up www.findpropertyforsale.com under the suggestion and support of a couple of realtors here in my town.
But, take a look at the site, let me know if I have a good set up and then maybe suggest to me, if you do not mind, what is the best way to market this thing to realtors - how to get them to post their properties! PLEASE HELP! Yea, I am only in the 3rd day of being online - but I just need I think a few pointers! Drop me a note at greg@findpropertyforsale.com and let me know! |

I thought these guys had the marketing plan and I was just the webmaster but they have changed their mind and went on doing their own real estate thing and now I have control of the site with no clue where to turn.

Developing a successful online business, not to mention a successful website, takes thought, planning, and at least a basic understanding of the tasks at hand. You might consider brushing up in those areas. ![]() |

To build a nationwide site where homebuyers can search for listings in their area is a huge undertaking in terms of expertise, time and money.
To get Realtors and real estate agents to pay to advertise each listing on your site you're going to have to convince them that you have the traffic from homebuyers in their area to justify their expense. You must understand that Realtors are barraged on a daily basis with companies (some just like yours) looking separate us from our money. Now you have a Catch 22 situation here in that if you don't have any listings for homebuyers to view, you won't be getting any traffic. My suggestion would be to start locally in your area. Concentrate on optimizing for that area and getting good SE rankings and consider PPC. At the same time, market to local Realtors and agents. Perhaps offer them a large introductory discount or maybe even free listings at the beginning. ALso, make appointments with office or marketing managers of offices in your area and offer to list the entire companies listings for a discounted rate. Again, I have to emphasize that before you do this you have to be able to show them that you will have a good amount of traffic to your site. After you've achieved a strong foothold in your area, then you may want to branch out and expand regionally or nationally. |

I'd think about whether you have the resources to compete against sites like Realtor.com. Unless you have unlimited time and resources (and that might not even be enough), you might be better off walking away from the project. Just like the realtors did.
