REW is a great place to learn and network a little. Lots of very helpful people who can give great advice on blogging for the consumer, how to make your website better and all sorts of stuff technical wise, and there are threads which I am shure you have seen where discussions about the none technical things are talked about as well.

I have a question for you since you are a Loan Officer, why is it that when getting a mortgage which is over $417,000 you have to pay a higher interest rate. In my area you cannot even purchase a first time home buyer home for less than 500K so almost everyone here gets hit with higher interest rates no matter what their credit rating.

There are 2 types of conventional Mortgage loans.

The traditional ones funded by Freedie Mac and Fannie mae are called "Conforming", and they have some specific guidelines, sometimes very conservative. One of those guidelines is the loan ammount limit wich is currently $417K.

When you need a loan higher than that, those loans are funded by other private investors that have guidelines less restrictive and are willing to lend you the money at a slightly higher interest rate to compensate the risk.
those loans are called "Non-Conforming" or Jumbo (since they are not conforming with the guidelines from freddie mac or fannie mae.)
