Default Gift for buyer's agent

Hi everyone. My wife and I are about to close on our first house this week. We really enjoyed working with our agent and would like to do something for him. Could you please offer ideas / suggestions for a gift?

Refer them friends/family for buying/selling real estate = best gift IMO.

That is very nice of you to give something to your agent. I will tell you that doesn't happen often. You should get them something like a gas card or a dinner certificate. The reason that I say that is two fold. One, if you give cash, the agency that your Realtor works for will want some of it. Two, Realtors are always entertaining (dinner) or driving clients around (gas). I know that it seems simple, but it is true.

That is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

I would actually recommend a gift certificate AND the referrals.

Thanks for the responses. We will certainly recommend our agent to our family / friends, but I was hoping to do something more...the gas card and gift certificate sound nice. How about a bottle of wine? Or an invitation to join us for dinner at our new home one evening? More ideas are greatly appreciated.

I think the dinner idea at your new home is awesome and also very personal. I have always appreciated this over the years when clients have me over to their new place. Another idea would be to invite your agent when you have some other friends over, so that you can publicly brag on him. I have found that people love to talk about the local real estate market during parties, and this gives him a chance to shine.
