I am considering shelling out a few beans for a website. However, some of my counterparts in Real Estate in my area say that they think it's a waist of time & money.

I do not know too many realtors in this area, but the few that I do - do not have a website or any significant "internet" marketing.

I understand that most people on this forum are excatly the opposite on this issue. Obviously its my decision but any hard facts I can use to show folk in my circle that there is a definite upside to speding $ on internet advertising?

Don't show anyone in your circle anything. It sounds like you're in an awesome market w/ little to no competition. No reason to create competition.

As far as hard #'s - everyone usually holds those pretty close to the chest.

I agree completely with Eric here. Do not bother trying to convince anyone that internet marketing is effective. Just move forward with your efforts. Where are you located?

Yeah - there's plenty of business to go around for everyone, though. But man...can you imagine in a few years when a few more people get in on the action? I think I work harder now out of paranoia than I did before I saw any of the results. BTW - we'll probably set up a happy hour again pretty soon - love to have you along!

That is actually exactly why I work harder now as well. Jim O. and I started working internet stuff in 1998, and it is obviously a different world now. In fact, I am pretty sure Google was founded the same year, and we didn't hear about it for awhile after that. The main search engines I recall were Excite, Altavista, Yahoo, and Netscape. Crazy, huh?
