Damn Ronnie! You showed that token!
I'm with you...they're worthless. IP tracking would be much cheaper & cost effective. Oh well - same organization that told me that "firefox doesn't work right on TEMPO."

Sorry, I meant SafeMLS token. It's a device that the Austin Board of Realtors gives it's members to login the MLs system. A lot of boards are using them now. IMO, it's all based on fear that the MLS will one day become public domain.
To login you must provide User Id, User Pin, and SafeMLS Password (if it happens to work). The point behind the device is to stop members from giving people their login info and accessing the MLS. I was feeling a little frustated tonight. After a few beers and busting the crap out of my token, I'm going to sleep well tonight. It will cost me $50, but well worth it to see the look on their face when I bring my token to them in a little plastic sack. |

I think the problem is that you have a bunch of old dinosaur Realtors working up at ABoR making cutting edge technology decisions and they don't have a freaking clue! ABoR is being sold by great salespeople who work for MLS technology companies who have a large staff of 3rd rate programmers! |

Seriously...a good web app's programmer (ahem, Morgan) could make a ton of money by designing a solid MLS program. The new system they've just moved us to - MLXChange - is functionally better than TEMPO but still has huge problems. Lack of Mac compatibility, not intuitive in the least.
Which brings me to another gripe about the Board - have you taken the required MLXChange class yet? They're not holding the class in a computer lab, so I brought my laptop to follow along - they made everyone turn off their laptops! It was completely absurd & an absolute waste of time. I immediately pulled out my phone & started playing brickbreaker.

No, I haven't taken the MLXchange course yet. Those courses always cater to the lowest common denominator. It's like PC 101. I can't believe they wouldn't let you use your laptop. They were probably afraid that you would get some work done during the 30 minute keyboard introduction.
The biggest problem I have with MLX is that after doing detailed searches and pulling results I get an error message and it kicks me back to the homepage. All my search info is earsed! I hope they fix all the bugs before they dump Tempo in the fall. Thanks for the heads up! I have Super PacMan on my phone and will probably download Tetris before I enter the training. |

Sounds like Austin has the same problems I have. We have a board of realtors made of members who still carry the MLS in there pocket in book form making tech decisions about things they have absolutely no knowledge of. I do occasionally get calls from my board asking such novel questions as "how do I check my email on my new computer"

Hey Austin Guys - I love the smashed token! The things are garbage. Eric - the basie, but required, MLX class a complete waste. I'm taking an advanced one only because gracy Title talked an ABoR instructor to come out ot Lakeway and teach it.

The smashed token totally made my day Ronnie. Yeah I don't know how many of those things I have gone through at this point. My impression is abor realizes they are crap but they dont plan on moving away from them. When I went in last time I asked if I was doing something wrong and they said "no they just break alot".
Do yall remember the token classes. It was 30 minutes or so but basically all I got out of it was "Press this button and then you get a code you type in". I understand some people need a class for stuff like that but they dont have to make it mandatory. Oh well.
