That is amazing that Austin is growing that fast... a) How are they supporting that kind of local growth? What is bringing that many folks in....or is this a "build it and they will come" thing?? b) How is it to get around downtown with all that construction? Eric

Here's something to scan through regarding the population growth in the area: http://recenter.tamu.edu/mnews/mnsea...p?AID=3&TID=12 The local job market is extremely strong - technology didn't go out of style, and there are a ton of major corporations (Dell, IBM, Apple, Intel, NI, Samsung, etc....) that have huge presences here. Beyond that, there seem to be a huge # of independently wealthy people either moving here or buying second homes. The city government has really supported downtown's growth in an attempt to combat urban sprawl - the mayor has set a goal of 25k downtown residents (from 5k) by 2015. The bottom line, though, is that these suckers are selling out fast during pre-construction! Driving around downtown sucks! It's not as bad as you would think, but I try to avoid it at all costs between 7:30-9AM & 4-6:30PM.
