I was just checking my back links on google tools and noticed all of the links from my REW forum posts even though they have no-follows. Does the big g give credit for no-follows?

I noticed that as well with my site. I think google just lists them as a back link as that is what they are, theres noting in google's webmaster tool which states the PR transfer from the backink

When the Webmaster Tools Links Tab was announced Matt Cutts stated that it will show no-follow links but they still do not pass link juice. He also made sure to state (more than once) that just because a link is shown there (no-follow or not) does not mean that it passes Page Rank. It is simply showing all of the links that Google knows about whether they pass PR or not.

So if I am not looking for PR juice is it possible no-follow links still carry authority/relevancy?
When no-follows first came about they were intended to protect a blog that had links to a bad/banned site. PR juice was not a part of the original concept.

It's hard to say whether they pass authority/relevancy. Based on the rationale for the no-follow tag I would say no they do not but I have heard some people who believe that they do. It's another one of those things that only Google knows for sure however I would go with the assumption that they have no value other than delivering direct traffic.

Do the no-follow tags hurt your page ranking?

Good question. I don't think so, but only Google really knows for sure. Maybe one of the REW experts would care to weigh in?

I believe the intent of no-follow, is just to be no effect - positively, or negatively.

Exactly, the "authority" comes from the "juice" and that's what the nofollow was intended for... not to pass the juice to sites that you couldn't vouch for.
