Default Should my sitemap be a .xml?

Should your sitemap always be a .xml in order to produce the best google results?

There are different formats used with sitemaps, and I suggest having all of them.

That means the google xml, yahoo ror, etc. auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp is a decent free one for google.

We have a .html sitemap now, but we can't register that in the google webmaster tools.

np

And if you have the exact same sitemap, but have it in multiple formats, I don't see a problem as long as you specify each sitemap to a different site.

thats for your site's visitors, the one you submit to google is different. do a search on 'sitemap generator' there are free tools that will create one for you in seconds.
