Default Article Spinners

I would like to know if article spinner tools are useful or just a waste of time.

I started looking into article spinning software such as jetspinner. Would this be beneficial to me to slice up my articles 500 different ways for posting to multiple websites as articles?

Is this a wise thing to do to boost my backlinks across the web?

I've personally never used one, but perhaps this thread may help you.

Can you say spam? No using software to "spin" your articles isn't a good idea. There is plenty of worthless crap on the web, why add to it?

Take a look at the way the program functions...

"Steiner Ranch is a (wonderful/fantastic/awesome) (community/neighborhood) located in Austin, (TX/Texas)."

It's something that is easily spotted by humans, and easy to write code to spot. After all, the program that "spins" the articles isn't that complicated. If you do some digging, you'll see discussions on even more advanced duplicate content identification software that spots duplicate content that's hidden even better than these rather simple spinners can accomplish.

Beyond the ethical implications of releasing hundreds of variations of the same article - basically creating spam on a fairly large scale - you won't get any worthwhile backlinks. You will, however, manage to tarnish your online rep.

Since all the voices here are negative so far, I'll post one that's in favor.

Done correctly, "article spinning" can give you several versions of the same article - they read just like the original, yet they will likely pass the duplicate content filter. If you do it right.

IMHO there is nothing wrong or unethical about posting the same article that has been re-written. What's the difference between this and creating a banner ad and putting it on 100 different sites? One's considered spam, and the other is considered good marketing?

What's the difference between doing this and just submitting your original article 1,000 times? Does the presence of a duplicate content filter make re-writing the article wrong? Who says it's wrong, Google?

What's the difference between doing this and distributing 1,000 flyers to your farm? Or 5 different postcards that look different but say the same thing?

This is just another way to get the message out. As far as tarnishing your online reputation - well, first, there's noone keeping track. Second, what's the first lesson you learn in real estate about marketing? You can't be afraid to piss people off - the very nature of marketing will eventually do so.

A lot of the people here that tell you not to do it will also tell you they do it temselves - only a few times instead of 500 and only with the top sites. 5 or 500 - it's the SAME THING.

well said!
and after a few spins, the article probably won't make much sense to the reader.

A lot of people here syndicate articles to many different article directories & publications. There is nothing wrong with syndication - one of the main goals of writing articles/blogs is that they will be linked to or reprinted.

That is entirely different than spinning the same article & resubmitting to the same article directories - which is the purpose of an article spinner.

Eric,

Do you spin the articles to modify the content slightly before reposting? or do you just write an article and publish it several times?

Chris -

I don't bother with the spinners at all. I don't believe that they do anything to get past the duplicate content filters & I also believe that links on duplicate content pages still pass value. I typically syndicate my articles to 50 sites per article & they get picked up by other sites once there.
