Why is homes .com more relevant than a web page which is full of local content and dedicated to that specific local town, has relevant links to it, and has all the domain athority of the Real Estate Webmasters domain behind it?

How do you knock them out of there???

It's not just a matter of relevance I think, it also has to do with the trust value of the site. Even with great relevant content, a new site isn't going to beat Homes.com which has thousands of aged links probably and an aged domain. As already mentioned, it's goin to take time and hard work.

The link juice to their home page is going to help them rank for anything else related. Keep adding content and getting links. Once they age a bit you should bypass them.

They aren't more relevant, just much more powerful

there are other factors such as age, they have more authority sites linking to them, their PR etc..
but its possible to knock them off, just keep working!
