Ok everyone,
I have a contract on my home and I have an earnest money downpayment. We are both trying to avoid a lawyer and a title search company. does anyone know what steps I need to take to have everything in order for the closing? We dont need a survey, we dont need an inspection, and we dont need an appraisal. I KNOW that I need to purchase title insurance, and something called "stamps?" What else do I need to bring and how do I go about getting it? Or should I fork out some money for an attorney? This is for the state of Georgia. |

Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish hire an attorney. You have no idea what your doing and there is a huge liability in that. If you want to keep costs down find a discount type attorney ($300-350) and he'll more than earn his money. I wouldn't even consider going to a closing without an attorney and I have done this more times this month than you probably will in your life. (thats not said to be mean or anything just to get the point that you need an attorney)
