Default Sub Domains and Three way linking

I recently began trading links via a subdomain on a well established real estate site for a customers site that is under another domain name. In effect a three way trade. The subdomain is linked from every page in the customers site and has a PR3 on every link page. The sudomain also has about 5 unique content pages. One of the main reasons for this linking technique is so that I can store all the links in one DB and share them among all the sites and the link traders can get 10 links from one form submission. I don't have any issues with dups since some people only trade with one or a few of the sites due to content realtede issues and I display them differently on each site.

My question is...am I cheating my link partners in any way. How are the subdomain viewed in the eyes of the se's...same as the domain or as a seperate site?

There is no ill intention to my method but I would it hate to appear that way.

I also trade links for the subdomain itself to help the PR and rankings of those pages.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Wow...three days and not even a comment

How about a link trade: http://www.telluriderealestate.biz/add_url.htm

You can get nine links ...some new pages...from one submission. Return link code is also provided.

Some directories are brand new...be the first on the page!

I have linked with you. There was a post about the subdomain deal in here some where. I'll see if I can find it and post it here for you. Morgan (seo-guy) said something about Google looking at them as a quasi domain or something and that it was not as good as a regular link. As hard as it is to find good cached pages I went ahead and linked.

HI JimJ...I've got you posted here:

Thanks for the article link.

I've been reading up on some resources and it appears that the links from the sub-domain might be more beneficial then new domains. Appearently the general consensus is that the subdomains do not have to wait for any aging filters or sandbox effects. Which means the link will have full value...the parent domain is over 5 years old.

I also read an opinion that the subdomains were trated as seperate domains...which is why they became popular with spammers. It also said that it helps if the subdomains stay on topic with the main doman...I'm doing that.

Lots of blogs are subdomains...blogs are widly popular. I think the value of the subdomain is based on the way it is put together. As noted before I'm linking to it from every page in the parent site...PR will not be a factor. I also get unique links to the subdomain itself...so it should be viewed as a seperate site. I optimize the pages...even the links pages...just as I would a main domain.

Here's some of the better resources I found:

I'll read thoughs articles. Thanks for the info. I see your some what new around here. Stick around because there are some really knowlegeable people here (I am not one of them lol). The guys that run this site are incredible and very helpful. If I knew as much about seo as they do I wouldn't be so generous in sharing my knowlege as they are. Good group of people.........
