Default Someone's hijacking my articles

Check this out: eureka-java-gold.com/tutorials/Eight_Reasons_to_Love_Lago_Vista_TX_297286_0_artic le.html. Sure didn't want to give these people an inbound link.

Someone is taking my articles and inserting a bunch of spammy links into them. I'm thinking the only way to prevent this is to include a copyright notice in all articles submitted. I also can't find contact information for these people.

If you ignore the left bar... it doesn't seem that bad.

They took your article, put your name as the author, AND gave a link back to your website?

It's probably not the best place for your article to be posted, but as they are crediting you, AND giving you a one way link without nofollow.. I truly don't see a problem with it.

I don't see the spammy links in the article either, maybe they fixed it in the last 5 minutes?

How strange that you didn't see anything. It takes a little time for the links to become visible, which also seems strange. The just take a word or a phrase and point a link to something.

property taxes points to homescape dot com
pilots points to mypilotstore dot com
recreation points to travels dot com

There are 7 links like this in addition to mine that I am seeing right now. A few minutes ago 2 or 3 more showed.

I just looked again and all I see is the menu on the left. I tried it in IE and it said I don't have permission.

big toe, he made the 'fake' link improperly, had to edit it to get it to work

eureka-java-gold.com/tutorials/Eight_Reasons_to_Love_Lago_Vista_TX_297286_0_artic le.html

It's not a live link :P

And the code block for your article, that I see:
Code:
<FONT FACE='Arial' SIZE=2> <P><FONT size=2>On the north side of Lake Travis, just northwest of Austin, is Lago Vista.&nbsp; There is a lot of value in this small town.&nbsp; As other areas around Lake Travis become more developed, Lago Vista is looking more and more attractive.&nbsp; Check out eight reasons to love Lago Vista, Texas.</FONT></P> <OL> <LI><FONT size=2>Highway 183A.&nbsp; This toll road was just completed and has cut the commute time to downtown Austin by a good 20 minutes.&nbsp; Texas 45 splits off 183A and has made Round Rock very a much quicker commute as well.</FONT> <BR> <LI><FONT size=2>Great schools.&nbsp; OK, you can look up the ratings yourself, but the three schools in the district are quite good.&nbsp; They are also known for having a pretty low student to teacher ratio, which many parents and educators alike enjoy.</FONT> <BR> <LI><FONT size=2>Relatively low property taxes.&nbsp; In an part of the Austin area known for having an over 3.</FONT> <BR> <LI><FONT size=2>The Rusty Allen airport.&nbsp; Not only is this a nice airstrip, but at 3,808 feet in length it is long enough to accommodate small jets.&nbsp; Private pilots wanting to own a second home close to Austin on a lake love it.</FONT> <BR> <LI><FONT size=2>Golf courses – three of them.&nbsp; There are two 18 hole courses within Lago Vista and a 9 hole course in Point Venture, which is just minutes away.</FONT> <BR> <LI><FONT size=2>A grocery store. &nbsp; This might sound silly, but it isn’t.&nbsp; Super S opened a 25,000 square foot grocery store in Lago Vista recently.&nbsp; Before that you would need to drive 20 or so minutes to the HEB in Cedar Park.&nbsp; Super S just added a lot of value to the area.</FONT> <BR> <LI><FONT size=2>Strict zoning – this is both good and bad.&nbsp; The good news is that there isn’t much commercial space available, which should keep Lago Vista feeling like a small town.&nbsp; The bad news is that there aren’t many places for nice restaurants to build.</FONT> <BR> <LI><FONT size=2>Lake Travis – need I say more?&nbsp; The premier recreation lake in Central Texas, Lago Vista sits right on Lake Travis.&nbsp; Lots of waterfront homes and a number of good marinas make Lago Vista very attractive for Lake Travis waterfront home buyers.</FONT> <BR>Learn about<A HREF="http://www.austinrealestateguy.com">Austin, TX real estate.</a> <P> <P>
Only that one link. Some weird font issues there, redoing the same thing over and over.

Maybe it's in firefox? I don't even have IE updated enough to use it without updating, so maybe there is some php involved that if you use IE it makes links appear? Never heard of that though.

That's what I see (all be it scaled down 75%).

You might want to read the article submission sites TOS more carefully, most sites reserve the right to have your article downloaded and placed else-were as long as the resource box is kept intact. Often the article sites themselves get a link for themselves too out of the deal.

Which is part of the whole point - you WANT people to syndicate your articles to their websites so that it builds viral one way links to your website.

Those added links are from an ad placement program called ContentLinks by a company called Kontera. It should work in FireFox, as well, but the javascript code must not have been inserted properly (or the site may have conflicting code... or something).

ContentLinks are kind of like AdSense in the respect that they serve ads that are relevant to the content on the page. The difference is that AdSense serves actual ads that appear on the page, while ContentLinks use existing text and serves the ad upon hover.
