Default IDX User Management Questions

Hi.

I have just gone live and need to find where I can manage my IDX visitors that sign up.

Specifically, I need to know:

1. How I identify (and view) saved listings for a registered user.

2. How I identify (and view) saved searches for a registered user.

3. How I identify (and EDIT) saved searches for a registered user.

I have reviewed the "mailing list" option but do not see anything that indicates (or lets me manage) the items above.

Please point me to documentation, threads, or something so I can get a handle on this.

Thanks - Mitch

Is anybody checking this? There is another thread in the CMS support forumm:

http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/thread18445.html

I have been using a different IDX provider and just completed a custom site and from what I have seen so far, REW is lacking in not having a "user management control page". With so many other great capabilities, I am surprised that this area makes me feel like I am on a scavenger hunt.

Since this forum is for suggested enhancements to the CMS, I'd like to formally request a "basic management panel" be built and made available to all REW users. The quality of the finished product would likely be better than a number of 'one off' custom jobs and the cost would be amortized (standard fees or a one time across the board upcharge when users 'upgrade' to the panel.

I have about 2,000 users on new listings watch (old IDX) that I will be transferring to REW and have used the management panel quite a lot in my old system (gave them some requirements as well).

How can we go about defining some basic requirements, determining a cost, and then surveying members to see who is willing to sign up (with their pro rata share of dev)? My guess is many would upgrade. The other side would be for REW to do this as a base line enhancement to the CMS and make available to all (so the early adopters don't end up paying more for something than they fairly should be).

I'd be real interested in any feedback or signs of support...

- Mitch

Mitch, Lead management is already available through REW - I just logged into your backend, and I see that you do not have the upgraded version of the lead management system which allows you to do "Most" of what you are looking to accomplish.

It WILL allow you to view your leads saved favorites
It WILL allow you to view your leads saved searches

It WILL NOT (At least by default) allow you to add or edit saved searches, if you wanted this put in there, we can certainly do it.

Question - has your project been going on for a while? It seems strange that you have an old version of the lead management, when we strated installing the new one by default at least 2 months ago - if your project was over 2 months old, then that would explain it, this new system was not available then.

Incidentally, all great suggestions, but we would never require, nor ask that any customers pay for our R & D, we have lead management in the top 3 of our priorities, and it is in heavy development. When available, we will be making it available either as a component of the CMS by default, or for a small fee depending on the cost of implementation, and maintenance.

Just a few screens:

When you are logged into the backend with the new system (And you must have a custom REW IDX to do this) and you click on "saved favorites" which is represented as a hyperlinked "F" you will see this screen.

It will give you the MLS # of each favorite (Which is clickable to view the property detail page if you like) the type, time stamp and some editing options.

Saved searches is a similar output, you can click on the name the user has given for the search to view the actual live search, and it will also list the details of what was saved for the search.

Thank you for these replies.

I hope I didn't upset anything/anyone here - not my intention.

Yes. My site project was started in May 07. Can you point me to a demo site for the new CMS so I can review the features in detail? The original demo site (sent by Craig) was for the old system and did not have these features.

This all looks very promising.

I saw this string and a light-bulb went on regarding custom projects where REW customers appear to have very similar needs. I was going to email Mitch directly since it appears that we have very similar "custom" needs/wants regarding a user management dashboard however I didn't want REW to feel like I was trying to pull an end run so I thought I would just post here. If this post is inappropriate, please delete it immediately since this is not the intent.

We also have experience with a few IDX solutions that had pretty good backends in terms of user manamagent, user organization, and tracking (additionally our MLS backend is very good and user friendly). We find that we don't (currently) even use the REW user management / lead management console however we would like this to change.

We would like to enhance our existing IDX backend and the display characteristics of our leads within our contact management system and it sounds like a lot of the features Mitch is (probably) looking for are identical to what we are looking for. For instance, adding or providing:

- Last Accession Date Column Header (to see who is actually using the IDX…the join date is nice but it doesn’t really tell us who is currently active),
- Display more than 15 leads per page so we don’t have to scroll and scroll to find users,
- Click on column headers to re-sort the leads list in ascending/descending order based on the particular column of interest

There are a number of additional features/ideas we have however I think you get the idea.

My question to you is this....
I know that custom-coding is dooable and you guys do an awesome job, however if different customers can mutually agree on a set of requirements, could the development costs be shared by those customers? I ask because it really does sound like Mitch and I are probably on the same wavelength having utilized other IDX backends and it doesn't seem like purusing projects like this independently (with essentially throw-away code) would make the most sense for anyone. Thoughts?

Again, I apologize if this posting is off-kilter. Just trying to figure out how best to share the knowledge and resources when appropriate.

EFS - we are all for sharing development ideas, and because we are fee for service (We bill by the hour) we get paid the same no matter what, so we have no problem with this at all (The worst that would happen is you guys would end up with twice as much cool stuff with the same budget)

In this instance however, co-operating doesn't help you - the reason why - there is no R&D required.

We already know how to do what you guys want us to do, we have done it before and can do it quickly and efficiently - thus there is nothing to share the cost of because the only cost would be the labour to "implement" the modifications to each of your sites - there is no way to do them both at the same time or anything, so whether we did one at a time or all at once, the cost (hours required) per customer would still be the same.

This is not true for ideas you guys might have that we have not done before and requires significant R & D time, in this case there would be a cost savings especially on large projects. (Although we are currently developing quite a bit, so we may have already done a lot of what you can think of as well

Sounds good.

Question 1: Can I get these features implemented now?

Question 2: How do I move forward (cost, timeline) - in a different forum? Call my rep?

Thank you (I am new to your system).
