I just noticed that craigslist is adding a "no follow" to hyperlinks entered in ads. I think this means we won't get any juice for our Google searches from craigslist anymore. Can someone verify this?
And if I'm correct, is there a workaround to place an ad and get some credit for the hyperlink? thanks, Mike |

Yes that is how I understand nofollow. I would be surprised if nofollow was a recent development on craigslist though.
I've read elsewhere in here that the easier a link is to create, the less value it tends to have. Craigslist is full of spam and probably doesn't hold much weight anymore, IMO.

Depends on the city Mike. Some of the more popular ones are only good for 30 days.

Agreed.
Craigslist links with nofollow aren't going to help you in terms of seo--- but is that really the point of your Craigslist links? If the ad is a good, accurate ad for a legitimate listing, you should get really high conversion rates from those links. Seems like the point is legitimate traffic and not seo (at least, that's how we used them).

Plus, a lot of the Craigslist ads (if written well) will come up in the serps in the top 20, for longtail types of searches... that's pretty great for a free advertising source!

Is this a regional thing? My links are still showing up on craigslist for search words.

Apparently it IS (or WAS) regional, they just started adding the "no follow" attribute about a week ago for Hawaii.
