Greetings,
My name is Travis Walters. I am the webmaster of my client's new URL REMOVED website. Currently, we rank on the first page for many of my clients keywords: holland michigan real estate, holland michigan homes, holland michigan homes for sale, west michigan real estate, holland homes, western michigan real estate, west michigan lakefront property, michigan real estate, zeeland michigan real estate However, my client would like to reach the top of the search results. We are wondering if anybody has any suggestions to get there? Thanks in advance! Sincerely, Travis Walters admin@codebuyers.com Last edited by SEO Nick : 09-25-2007 at 03:35 PM. |

A quick observation is the size of the page. The page width is too large and is a fixed width. Here is more info on page size.

Hey there,
I am not really worried about the fixed width issue. We made the website compatible for 1024x768 resolution browsers. If you do a google search for "browser display statistics", you will see that that 80% of users are using a resolution greater than or equal to 1024x768. I am not sure I can do much with the page size. It works just fine on high speed connections. Dial-up is going to be a thing of the past. With real estate websites, I would think that anybody looking for a decent priced home would already have high speed internet. Feel free to disagree ![]() Nevertheless, thanks for the review. Sincerely, Travis Walters |

Actually, when I mentioned large I was only referring to the page width.
I understand about the monitor most folks are using, but many work from laptops, etc. Anyway, just an observation. It looks like you had that one figured into the scheme of things anyway. ![]()

Hello again,
That is one thing that is hard to take into consideration while designing a website - screen size. As a programmer and a perfectionist, I like to have something that works for everyone. While I know it is not possible, it is still very nice in theory ![]() One thing I have considered is producing a second website for a different screen size. However, if I did that, I would run into duplicate content issues and the web crawlers would scream at me ![]() Thanks again. Sincerely, Travis Walters |

A lot of wealthy people live in rural areas where there is no access to high speed. I have cable and if a website doesn't fit on my screen I buy from someone else.

Hey there,
Most browsers are getting magnifiers nowadays as well. At least, I know IE7 does and I think firefox if I am not mistaken. If users are aware of that is a different story.. Personally, I like designing for 800x600 resolution. Users viewing with 1024x768 resolution can see this just fine. However, about 20% use a resolution larger than 1024x768 resolution. The font would be unreadable to them unless they use a magnifier tool. Either way you are losing business. The only way to satisfy everyone is to capture the user's screensize by javascript. 98% of people have javascript enabled. Then, you can redirect the user to the version of the site you want. The only problem with that is you are going to run into duplicate content issues. Google and other search engines will then choose the version of the page that gets indexed. Now tell me this, isnt programming fun ![]() Sincerely, Travis Walters admin@codebuyers.com |
