I've been using google ads and I'm considering branching out to yahoo, etc. Does yahoo ads actually bring in business on a comparative level to google?

IMO, no.. they are not the same quality of lead based on my experience. Yahoo has only 30% of the traffic compared to Google. I tried it by having the #1 PPC position for many phrases and hardly noticed any change in leads when I discontinued it. Of course, having a site at the top of the organic SERP's in Yahoo helps not needing to use their PPC. I think many see that Yahoo's results are not really relevant many times and don't search there.

I would have to agree with Morgan. Stick with Google, Yahoo is steadily losing market share. Just make sure you are using targeted search phrases (longtail)

I do all three...google,msn,yahoo. I do know that one of my biggest deals this year came from a msn ppc ad. I have it wide open in msn and can barely spend $20/month....just not much traffic. Imho there isn't much difference in the quality of the lead whether it comes from yahoo or google etc.

Yahoo puts your ads on affiliate sites which costs a lot of money with no return.

I find that Yahoo Sponsored search and MSN AdCenter bring more "buyers" to my lading pages where as AdWords tend to bing huge number of "lookers" even for very specific keywords aimed at the final stage of the shopping process.
Google however beats the other two by the volume of searches performed. As a wise marketer you should be using all three and may some other vertical search providers. Just my 2 cents.

Google is the mother when it comes to sponsored ads. They are really contextual targeted and easy to manage. For instance, Google offers great channel targeting to get exactly the category of ads useful to your visitors. Alot of sites that i have seen using Yahoo, I have noticed ads that really were not targeted to the website.
