Default Palm

Does anybody use their palm for real estate? I'm looking to use mine for downloading the MLS each nite, and also it works as the keypad to unlock doors, and I've installed map software, but have to get the GPS chip.

My goal is to be a "high tech" agent

As much as my Palm Pilot might aspire to greater heights its current primary function is that of Address Book and my Backgammon partner.

I had been using the Treo for this purpose, but it was just WAY to slow for me. In the one year contract I found it usefull 2 times and either one of them would have been faster to call someone and get the info.

The Palm may be faster as it downloads ahead of time (the treo connected to the internet as you used it), but I would make sure to try it out before you pay for anything.

Ken,

I was about to buy the Treo 600 but held off because I heard the 650 is going to be released for my wireless carrier soon. Is there any software for the Treo that allows you to download MLS info like the Palm? Besides the slow speed you mentioned, how do you feel about is for other uses? Also, the buttons are very small, do you find it difficult to dial? I've imagined trying to dial with my fat fingers while driving and the picture wasn't pretty

A palm pilot can be a great tool for managing a business, but you shouldn't depend on it too heavily. If you use it for everything and it breaks, your business could suffer a serious setback.

Instead of downloading the MLS to your palm, use your Laptop on the road with an Aircard to get online. I have it, $70 a month unlimited internet and it's great!

i'm a poor agent, can't afford a laptop

I would prefer a laptop, but have to work w/ what I have. One of the agents was showing me her palm, and she downloads the MLS in the morning, and then she has all the listings if she needed to access them, and it doubles as the "key lock". Our local NAR uses a d-key (?) and the palm. So for now, I think I might stick with the palm till i can afford my laptop
