Default Writing contest for Real estate Agents

I got this e-mail the other day inviting me to enter this advice-writing contest on a site called AdviceNetwork.com. I’m thinking they must have sent it out targeting people who offer Real Estate services. That’s probably why I got it.

All I have to do is write an advice-driven article on a subject related to Real Estate Agents and it goes into a nation-wide contest. The contest offers a chance to win a MacBook, but what really hooked me was the offer of a 4-month vendor listing absolutely free just for entering. I already write for article banks a lot. The keywords and links in articles on article banks are a big part of how I promote my website.

Not only that, when the site launches, they’re going to sell qualified leads. I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for new lead programs to join, and this one comes with a free 4-month vendor listing. Yet another way to get the kind of exposure I’ve been looking for.

This is the contest entry page:
Spammy link removed.

Definitely smells of the spamminess - I deleted the link and will likely suspend the user when I get home.

That post made me laugh out loud. Good idea, but why pretend like you're someone who "just happened to notice" a good idea....?

I'd rather say, "Hey! I'm having a writing contest. The contest is based on volume of submissions, writing skill, non-generic topic matter related solidly to owner-occupied real estate buying, selling, or lending, and the prize is...(something good). By the way, I'll be posting what you write, and I'll own it, and if you post copies of what you submit elsewhere, you get penalized. If you link to us, you get special BONUS points, too!"

At least then you admit you're being spammy.

(I should really do that. What would a good first prize be?)

I would certainly have more respect for that approach.
