Default Transaction Fees

Just trying to get an idea of what is out there for transaction fees. So...Do you use them? What do you call them? and How much?

Currently I charge $495 for a transaction fee. I also make everybody on my team charge $495 as a minimum although if they want to charge more they get to keep the rest.

I simply call them a transaction fee. Fortunately the transaction fees I collect pay for a top notch full time assistant.

I don't do transaction fees fees either. In fact it PO's me when I see some of these solo agents in my area charging X -300. They don't even have an assistant but yet they are charging a fee....whatever.
Like Darren said, here's your %...take it or leave it.

It ticks me off too when agents do that. What I am talking about is just charging the buyer or seller an additional fee.

Our office charges $129 for the listing side for storage/processing of the documents for the years that they are required to keep them after a closing.

Some persons mark up the costs so they get additional "profit".

I just charge the straight cost and get 2 checks from closing to turn into the office. One for the commission, and one for the $129.

Make it a clear point on your website that you do not charge these fees and enjoy the extra business.

I absorb the transaction fee myself, and it never shows up on the closing statement, only my office billing statements. To me, it is just a cost of doing business, and it is primarily to my benefit to have our licensed transaction managers dealing with the "administrivia". I stay involved and informed, but they handle 90% of the transaction coordination BS.

My company charges a $195 transaction fee, this pays for a document imaging that's kept on a secure network FOREVER.

We then tell the home owner, that most times this can reduce their homeowners insurance if we include pictures of the interior on move-in-day. Or the home owner can do it themselves. Most of the time, the insurance company will take off 5% per year off their insurance premium...It pays for itself!
