So I'm sure many of you have heard about this from the news...

Over 300,000 people were evacuated at some point. I was evacuated on Monday but the fire fighters did a great job and we were back into our house that same night.

My sister-in-law was able to get back into her house today. The home across the street burned down and the fire department saved her house.

I added some photo's to my San Diego county squidoo if anyone is interested in seeing what's going on.

Glad to hear everything is okay for you, Bob. We watched the flames coming up the hills from Pendelton last night and my wife had the SUV packed and was ready to move out. Luckily, it came no closer as things calmed down a little today.
This fire is devastating with so many having lost their homes. Fortunately, all we got was the soot, ashes and dust covering everything inside and out!

I am in Mexico right now and it's dominating the Mexican news sources. Glad to hear the both of you have escaped relatively unscathed.

Man - it's good to hear you and your homes are ok. It's crazy how much damage there is. I was just out there the weekend of Sept 1st and everything looks completely different.

Glad to hear your homes are still intact and everyone is safe. Words can't describe just how devastating the fires have been. My cousin and family were evacuated from their home on Monday, but returned late yesterday. Their property escaped unscathed, but several of their friends / neighbours lost everything.

Lets hope the winds continue to die down and you get some rain soon!
