Default For my "home office" I want to buy a 3-in-one

I want to buy a 3-in-one, copier, scanner, and fax machine. Any advice for me? Which products are good? Bad? Obviously, I'm a REATLOR and am starting to get a little busy in my new career, and want to buy some new equipment for my home office.
Is Best Buy or Staples a good place to buy a 3-in-one? Any other places that are good?

Thanks in advance,
Shari

Before you go looking at a 3-1, determine how much printing you will do. If you plan on doing alot of printing run away from the inkjet. They are cheap to buy but the ink cartages will eat you alive. I toner cartage will run you 3 or 4 times the cost of an ink cartage but will last 10 times longer.

IMO, both those stores are fine.

You don't mention budget, color or quality?

I have err had two 3 in ones (I hate them both, one b/w one color) that have both broken down at the wrong times.

One was a Brother which failed to learn how to swim, the other was an HP which failed to learn how to fly...

Now I have separate machines for each task.

It's easier for me... if one machine goes down I don't have to scramble to get it repaired.

Inkjets are very expensive to maintain and the cartridges don't last very long.

Hello,

Try Amazon.com... they have lost of different printers and most of them have reviews by customers, so you can get an idea which ones are good and which ones are not.... plus I think everything over 25dlls is free shipping and not tax.

Good luck!

I agree about the inkjets being expensive to maintain. It all depends on how much volume and what kind of quality you want. All in ones are OK, but nowadays you can get a very nice color laser printer for around $300.
The all in one might be good band aid, but sooner or later you end up hating it and getting dedicated machines.

We've always used Hewlett Packard printers for years. Right now we are using their HP OfficeJet Pro L7650 and are very happy with it.

We buy our electronics through CostCo because of their liberal return policy. You'll pay a little more, but if the product turns into a lemon several months down the road, they'll take it back. As a matter of fact, we returned a computer after having it for 11 months! Also, my wife dropped a laptop one week after purchasing it, broke the glass, and CostCo still took it back. My wife told them straight up she dropped it. How's that for service? Also, how's that for guts on the part of my wife for taking it back. I hid!

Anyway, IMO, HP is the way to go. I studied their company when in college and HP as a company is sound from the ground up.

At Home I use a HP L7680 office jet pro to copy/fax and scan & sometimes print.
I use a HP Color Laser Jet 1600 for larger print jobs.

When I'm in a rush I use them both to print at the same time.

Ever had to show a home in 10 minutes and need 30 printouts instantly?
2 Printers are better than one.

At the office I have two small B&W HP Laser jets that seem to run for a year without needing a toner cartridge. Another small HP Fax/scanner and a big a$$ OKI DATA color monster. I fill the OKI myself with toner dust from Ebay.

Of all of them the Laser Jet 1600 is my favorite, but she don't scan or fax.

FYI - I think Costco recently changed their return policy on electronics to 90 days.

Looks like it still works for printers, but computers are 90 days now.

The only advice I have is to keep your receipts. I might have bad luck but whenever I get printers about 70% of the time they tend to break in 3 months. I try to get different brands each time. I think it might be because as realtors we print more than the average person.

Also at this point instead of getting one nice printer I now get two cheaper ones. That way if it breaks before I am going to show a client I have a backup.

I use a Canon MF4150 Monochrome laser at home. Been happy with it for about 6 months.
