I am creating a new site soon that has to compete against a large site which uses many subdomains. So i am going to make my site with subdomains as well - one for each state.

Does anyone know of any good articles/forum posts on the best practices for subdomains and how they relate to SEO? I have looked around on Google but i have not found anything on it yet.

Does anyone here use subdomains on their site and has good success in the search engines?
