I just started subscribing to Altos research for re market stats and graphs. The overwhelming majority of internet users have screens wide enough to allow them to view charts to the right hand side of my website. Here's an example of a graph:
http://www.justnewlistings.com/sprin...al-estate.html I'm envisioning putting several of them up on various pages to the right column of the website. How much would it be to add about 10 of those charts to specific pages. I'd give the html (iframe) to you for each chart. I just don't have access to the right of the website.

Hello,
As far as the programming - we could add another box on the page when adding a page in the CMS that you could just drop in the HTML for the chart. - That would take no more than 1hr. For the template modifications - I'll need to check with a designer and get back to you. Thank you, |

Hi Jay,
How do you see the placement of this extra content working? Will the graphs be floated completely outside of the existing "page"? (By "page" I mean the widest container on your site that holds everything... navigation, content, slideshow, IDX search.) Or do you want the page widened like the new wide REW templates (see www.dev136.rewdev.com for an example) and have a column of secondary content (graphs) added to the right of the existing content (but still within the page container)? Did that make sense?

Awe crap, Leif, you had to make this complicated. Do you have any sample of a secondary column using this wider template??? I've never see a wide template like this before...sort of freaky--haha
I need a quote on adding a new section to my left column menu. It would be the style of the SURROUNDING AREAS button to separate it and would say Wilmington North Carolina. Then I can add subpages gradually for a soon to be new market. Also I'd want another blog platform set up for that North Carolina section of my website. So there would be 2 blogs on my website each for their own geographic area. However for now I'm just interested in the getting the new section set up--not creating the blog platform for it. My broker just had me speak on blogging to the office. The state association invited me to a blogger conference to speak but I passed. Everybody wants to copy me --bust!!!!#@#!!

Hi Jay,
I think you're right... I think I've made this too complicated. (Sorry... I tend to do that on occassion...) I don't have an example of a wide template w/ a secondary content column to show you. The wide versions are still pretty new and we haven't had anyone request that yet. Plus, I think that converting your site to a wide layout is going to take more time (and therefore cost more money) then you probably want to spend to achieve what you're trying to achieve. I think that floating the charts in a box outside of your content area is the way to go here. Aaron could add an additional section into your CMS (he said that would take 1 hour of programming) and we could plug it into a floated section on the front end. That would take 1 hour of design. Two hours total. Your side-nav expansion request & the blog stuff will need a programming quote from Aaron.

Let's go ahead and add that section to my CMS that will allow me to drop charts outside of my main content area on pages of my choosing.
I do want the minor expansion the side-nav and just a quote on adding a blog platform under that particular expansion. Does that make sense? I hope the additional section to my CMS will be easy to use and understand....I'm sure it will be. jay

Hi Jay,
Yes - your request makes sense. I'll get Aaron to give you a quote for adding the 3rd section to your side-nav and for the blog stuff. Once you've approved the quote for the side-nav expansion, we'll start on the project. I'm sure the addition to your CMS will be easy to understand. The programmers here at REW are good at that stuff ![]()

We can add a third set of nav links however - Unfortunately only 2 sections of the side nav can be controlled by the CMS. What we can do is choose one of the 3 to be "static" meaning you will not be able to change the links in them. It would either be the "Main Navigation" or the "Surrounding Areas" - or the proposed new section... - As far as the secondary blog ... we could add another user to the current blog. This would be about 1hr programming to adjust the blog to work with multiple users. We'll get started on adding the secondary content area to the cms. |

Hi Jay,
Is this what you had in mind for the placement of the secondary content? http://www.justnewlistings.com/test.php

yes that is cool and will work fine--the test page you gave me that is.
I'd like the new section button to be titled "Wilmington NC real estate" and it will have 1 link underneath it titled "Wilmington North Carolina Blog". The section can be static as I will not be adding links underneath it for a long time. And that link will take one to a north carolina real estate blog titled "Wilmington NC Condos and North Carolina Real Estate" It would be a separate blog than the one I currently have. Is that doable? jay
