Question Please Help with MLS!

Hi, real estate professionals,

I am a researcher who works on a real estate project. Recently, I am writing a proposal dealing with the dynamic change of the real estate market. For the empirical part, I need to work on the real transaction data. The data should be the single family house transaction records in metropolitan areas like Dallas, Washington D.C. , SLC or any area with a simple geometric map.

Since I have no access to MLS, I have to resort to your help. What I need for each record is the sale price, sale time (month/date), square feet, street address. The street address is crucial to my research. If anybody here can offer transaction records of one county in the metropolitan area, it would be great. If you can help, please reply here or just send an email to landingship@qq.com.

All MLS-specific data is strictly copyrighted by the respective MLS. You would either have to contact all brokerages in a major metropolitan area, locate a 3rd party that has a licensing agreement in place with the MLS to sell such data, or strike up an agreement with an MLS in order to obtain this data. No member of an MLS is authorized to distribute any portion of the MLS to a third party without the express, written consent of the MLS.

If you want all real estate transactions, a number of county governments provide ways you can access that data through their websites. Using MLS data would omit many private sales, FSBOs, builder new home sales, foreclosure sales, auctions, and other real estate transactions that are not recorded in any MLS, but would be in the county records.
