Someone asked about this in the work order section.
Do you guys have a system that can be put in place to automatically upload our listings to places like google base, trulia, yahoo real estate? the answer was yes in regards to google and trulia. What were they talking about, and what are the benefits? |

There are many websites / portals out there trying to become popular by offering access to real estate listings, Google Base, and Trulia are both good examples.
To make it easier for developers, they create something called an API, that let's people like us create applications to syndicate our customers listings (Basically automatically upload them to their site) The benefit is exposure for your listings - each of these sites are trying to capture as much traffic as possible (Traffic interested in your listings) and if they do a good job, you will continue to add your listings to their portals. The more listings they have, the more people will come back and use them. There are no SEO benefits to listings syndication (At least from the major players) - but you never know, your next listing might sell because someone found it on Google Base or Trulia.

And the answer to your question is yes, we can custom code our CMS to feed listings anywhere that accepts them - all you do is pay for the time it takes to set it up for your CMS.

huh, sounds like I'm helping with their traffic not mine. Is there anyone here that is currently doing this that wouldn't mind giving me a link to one of their properties on Trulia and google that was uploaded from REW.
If it helps me dominate, i'm all for it. |

Greg - you are "helping them with their traffic" - which for some portals, means creating competition for yourself (Never a good thing) however for those portals with enough $ or technology (Good luck beating Google at the Google game) the logical battle is a loosing one - they will dominate real estate search sooner or later in "some" segment - but it will likely not be in natural search as "local" sites will (At least according to current search logic) have a better chance at ranking for many terms.
It's a tough decision that everyone needs to make for themselves - myself personally, I would syndicate only to those portals that have already established a really good traffic base OR if they look like they will without my help (Such as Google) Quote:
