I have noticed since I got a new site from REW that my rank in Alexa went from being ranked over 1 Million to now 743,000. Does this hold any weight? Does moving up in Alexa's eyes mean anything? How important is Alexa?

It doesn't really mean anything to me. It's just a ranking tool that allows you to monitor how much traffic you're getting, but there are much better tools for that.

I suppose some people use their search feature and I think the higher you get the higher you rank in their search engines, but I don't know anyone who uses it.

Mark - It means that 742,999 websites are giving you the beatdown No really, I agree with Chane. I wouldn't put too much weight into Alexa. You are either getting real estate leads, or you are not. Google's webmaster tools is a much better place to monitor traffic.

It is not a viable or valuable metric at all - sure it gives you some indication that your traffic is moving in the right direction - but your analytics will tell you that, and in many better ways

Use Google Webmaster tools. Far better than Alexa. I think Google Analytics was the best thing to come out for webmasters.

Agreed, Google webmasters tools is invaluable and tracks all sources if clicks. Truley amazing in my eyes, then integrate ad words in there and you have a comlpete one stop place to monotor everything!
