In my quest to create a new and better sitemap I went to www.xml-sitemaps.com, created a new sitemap and put it on my site, then I went to google webmaster tools and resubmitted sitemap, the status says "errors" Is there anyone who would be willing to pull up my sitemap and see if you can tell what went wrong? www.mauipropertysearch.com/Sitemap.html

I have a template website, seeing that the sitemap that was created is in html format, I uploaded the sitemap in html area. Mabey this has something to do with it? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Dave, I just figured it out. I contacted my website service and they need to upload it. I get so used to making pages etc... I think I can do it all. Not sure why they need to upload xml sitemap, but hopefully once they do, google will like it. Thanks for all your help!

That's how google sitemaps work. They work with a .xml file, where you add all the urls on your page. Also, you have to make sure is formated as it should, meaning all tags are closed, the one which are "needed" there to add them there. Google sitemaps are for the search engines and are different than the ones for the users

Karen, being a fellow Myers customer I can tell you that an XML sitemap will not work. They do not support anything written in XML. You will have to create a sitemap that is HTML or a DOC file. This will at least allow you to get the sitemap on the site but you will not be able to use it in Google Webmaster tools. I have already called Myers regarding this issue and they will only make changes to supported formats if enough people request it. Call them!
