Question DMOZ listing

Hey,

I submitted my website to dmoz a lot lately and I got listed a few days ago. Since then I'm now on page one for most of my important search terms, and we only started the website in Sept. Its a big jump. We've had no SEO pros look at it, its just what i see and read myself.

Any other big directories worth trying?

What do you mean by a lot? How many times did you send your request into DMOZ in a given month?

Just curious.

Maybe 7 times total. 3 in the last 6 weeks.

The dmoz area in question: estate agents in nice france, had 6 listings. It doubled to 12, with myself, a main rival, and some random french agencies.

Good for you...I always thought it was bad to keep sending in requests, apparently not.

Dmoz has been listed as an import aspect of most SEO campaigns.

Ok, here is the real story.

Repeatedly suggesting the site to the exact same category is both pointless and may delay a listing.

Listings suggested to the same category overwrite each other, so really once is enough, twice covers the remote possibility of there being a technical problem that caused the suggestion not to appear. If an editor working in a category decides to work through all the suggestions in suggested date order (there are several ways of sorting the suggestions), by suggesting it repeatedly it will be at the bottom of the list when sorted.

Multiple suggestions to similar or related categories means a copy exists in each pile of suggestions, and this is seen as spam - which can get your site banned.

How long does it take to hear back from DMOZ? I submitted my site about 3 weeks ago and have not heard anything back? Is this unusual?

Are you kidding? 1-3 years to hear whether you will be listed or not?
